Their goal? To serve their communities with fresh, regional quality products, focusing on efficiency, while reducing their environmental impact.
For this case study, we visit Toni’s Treffpunkt in Aarau, Switzerland, where the owner of Toni’s also serves as the Vice President of the cooperative.
With the dated refrigerators and freezers at Toni’s Treffpunkt now over 30 years old, it was time for them to upgrade to something more environmentally friendly.
Their open multideck units were not only less energy-efficient but were also struggling to maintain the required temperatures, which meant the store could no longer meet legal food safety standards.
With fresh food and drink stocked daily, food safety was non-negotiable for this convenience store owner.
True’s redeveloped GDM range achieves impressive energy savings, providing great benefits compared to the open multideck appliances used previously.
In retail, products must be presented in an appealing and eye-catching way. True’s equipment, featuring high-illumination LED lighting, ensures products stand out. Toni took full advantage of the branding options, adding Treffpunkt’s signature graphics to enhance visibility.
On top of this, the units offer substantial storage space with heavy-duty shelving, allowing a wide variety of products to be displayed efficiently.
In just nine months, True Refrigeration helped this Treffpunkt store owner save over 27,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity – about 6,000 Swiss Francs in savings – by switching to two of their freezers.
Not only is their energy usage down, but the new fridges and freezers are drawing attention, highlighting the products they have on offer.
